We filmed this on May 11, just days before Pleven's city holiday on May 15, so the streets already have a celebratory energy throughout - decorations up, fountains running, the city getting ready for its biggest day of the year.The walk covers the full center: Vazrazhdane Square and its famous fountain cascade, the Museum of the Liberation of Pleven 1877 with its war monuments built from actual cannons, the Ivan Radoev Theatre, the Church of St. Nicholas, the Chapel-Mausoleum of St. George the Victorious, and the city park along the Tuchenitsa river. Pleven punches well above its weight. Wide boulevards, a serious art gallery, and over 200 war monuments from the siege that decided Bulgarian independence.
