The “Lyrical Flute International Championship” has been held annually (September/ October) since 2021. It is an online flute competition with entry by video performance. The international judging panel has included leading flutists, Sir James and Lady Galway, Lorna McGhee, Ulla Miilmann, Viviana Guzman, Adam Eccleston, Sonia Croucher, Joshua Batty and other international judges. The championship is open to students and amateur adult flutists from all countries, of all ages, and has sections including age championships (flute and piano), unaccompanied solos, ensemble section and a creative presentation section. The repertoire features both classical works and newly commissioned music from composers around the world, published by Allegro Music Publishing. Prizes are awarded and all participants receive certificates.
