A Day in Capitol Reef #national park #redrock #hiking
Capitol Reef National Park is a great, and I'd like to take you along for a day of exploring the Waterpocket Fold, a monocline that defines the park. I drove the scenic drive, hiked to Cassidy Arch, and also walked part of Capitol Gorge. I fixed a late lunch in the picnic area near Fruita, with a young buck for company. There's lots of red rock here, arches and natural bridges, Fremont petroglyphs, and the relaxing area around the Fremont River. I finished the day with some rockhounding just east of the park boundaries. It was a great day.
