RBI Master Directions 2026: Unique Identifiers and Securities Market Implications

On June 24, 2026, the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), the Fintech Convergence Council (FCC), the Payments Council of India (PCI), and the Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL) jointly hosted an online knowledge session examining the Reserve Bank of India’s "Master Direction on Unique Identifiers in Financial Markets" (2026) and its implications for the Indian securities market ecosystem. During the webinar, GLEIF’s Country Business Manager for India, Vikas Panwar, and Arun Kumar Pandey, Executive Vice President and Head of Derivatives at CCIL, discussed the growing importance of international standards such as the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and the Unique Transaction Identifier (UTI) in strengthening trust and transparency across India’s financial ecosystem.
