Astor Piazzolla - OBLIVION by Ferdinand Binnendijk & The Mandolin Chamber Orchestra HET CONSORT

Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) is one of Piazzolla's most loved compositions. It was composed in 1982 and used for the soundtrack of Marco Bellochio's film 'Henry IV, the Mad King' and has since then become one of his most famous compositions. Oblivion is a beautiful work in which love and tragedy are mixed into a rather melancholic and emotional language. Here it is performed by Ferdinand Binnendijk on Liuto cantabile and the Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra HET CONSORT lead by Alex Timmerman. The latter also made the arrangement for Liuto cantabile solo and Mandolin Orchestra. The video was made by Jan Penninkhof and Herman Verschuren during a concert on November 14th, 2015, in the English Church, Begijnhof convent in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
