Hugh Grant Interview on Winning Best Actor BAFTA – "Very pleased and very smug" (1995)

On 23 April 1995, Hugh Grant and his then-girlfriend, Liz Hurley, spoke to ITN following Grant's winning of the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at that year's BAFTA ceremony. Grant, who was happy to be interviewed, told ITN how it felt to win for his performance in Four Weddings and a Funeral, written by Richard Curtis. Having been up against Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) and John Travolta (Pulp Fiction), Grant described it as a "horribly strong category" and confessed that he was surprised to have won.
