From a time when BMW still made ''the ultimate driving machine''

There’s something genuinely sad about driving this BMW Z3 in 2026. Not because the car is bad. Quite the opposite. Within a few corners it becomes obvious that BMW used to build cars around steering feel, feedback and driver engagement in a way they simply don’t anymore. In this episode of Steering Feel Review, I take the BMW Z3 out on real roads and break down exactly how it feels to drive. From the steering weight and feedback during spirited driving, to what it’s actually like to live with during normal everyday driving. What surprised me most is just how alive the car feels when you push it. The steering communicates properly, the front end reacts naturally, and the whole car encourages you to engage with it. But at the same time, that old-school sports car character comes with compromises in normal driving, where refinement and comfort are nowhere near modern standards. This video isn’t just about the Z3. It’s about a time when BMW genuinely earned the phrase “ultimate driving machine”. If you care about steering feel, hydraulic steering and analogue driving experiences, this one’s worth watching.
