Bergatrollets Frieri / Herr Mannelig (Swedish Trad.) - Live
"Bergatrollets frieri" ("The Courtship of the Mountain Troll") also known as "Herr Mannelig," is a Nordic medieval ballad likely from the 14th century. The story revolves around a female mountain troll proposing to the knight Herr Mannelig. She offers him gifts but is rejected because she is a troll without Christian faith. The troll's defeat makes her desperate, as winning Herr Mannelig would have "lost her affliction," implying a possible curse. From the autumn concert "Úr jǫrðu" ("Of the Earth") on November 26, 2023. Arrangement: Daniel Bahram Sound production: Geir Døhlie Gjerdsjø Video recording: Håkon Vardeberg
