How the New European Bauhaus is redesigning and transforming neighbourhoods

Announced by President Ursula von der Leyen in 2020, the New European Bauhaus initiative is redesigning and transforming neighbourhoods to improve quality of life and well-being. It prioritises sustainability, inclusion, and beauty, while putting local communities at the heart of transformation. RIPPLE is a short film that looks closely at the stories and people behind three NEB projects: in Liepāja (Latvia), Stavanger (Norway), and Seville (Spain). The Liepāja Restoration Centre teaches traditional techniques to help locals revitalise historic buildings and preserve the city’s cultural landscape. New European Bauhaus Stavanger (NEB-STAR) explores sustainable solutions for local neighbourhoods. Residents, students, and architects meet and co-create at Site 4016. Remonda is a circular economy project in Seville that explores how orange peels can be transformed into a sustainable biomaterial.
