Third session of the "Pasolini: A Force from the Past" conference with Santiago Alba Rico, César Rendueles, and Débora Ávila. At this conference, the Circle proposes revisiting some of the themes on which Pasolini held a position contrary to the prevailing historical context: the peasantry, sex, the sacred, abortion, education, student struggles, and minority languages. http://www.circulobellasartes.com The vindication of traditions is a thread that runs through all of Pasolini's work, both his writing and his films. His call to attention regarding the unease associated with the advantages of modern life, or the setbacks and losses inherent in the advances of consumer society, and his impassioned defense of all that is dissolving into thin air, made him an extremely challenging artist and thinker. His political, ideological, and ethical positions often placed him at odds with those who were, otherwise, his fellow fighters, while at the same time they are difficult to frame in an author committed to a bold artistic experimentation.
