This complete, full-length documentary (57 minutes) explores the visionary theology that fired Helen Keller's long and productive life. The film celebrates her triumphant accomplishments in the face of all odds, and her tireless philanthropic efforts to improve the lives of the less fortunate throughout the world. In her book Light in My Darkness, she says, "It would be such a joy to me if I might be the instrument of bringing Swedenborg to a world that is spiritually deaf and blind" (pg. 12). And later, "In giving me the golden key to the hidden treasures of the Bible, Swedenborg's books have lifted my wistful longing for a fuller sense-life into a vivid consciousness of the complete being within me" (pg. 34). Combining archival footage, interviews, stills, and dramatic reenactments, we meet John Hitz, consul general of Switzerland to the United States, Alexander Graham Bell, and Mark Twain, and others, all of whom befriended Helen.
