The EU's DMA Folly — Protecting Consumers or Punishing Them? - The Hang Jury - The Tech Hangout Ep 2

Apple unveiled a completely rebuilt Siri at WWDC 2026 — a proper AI assistant that reads your messages, knows your calendar, and works across all your apps. It's coming to iPhones this fall everywhere in the world. Except the EU. Europe's Digital Markets Act requires that any AI Apple ships with deep system access must give the same access to every rival AI too. Apple asked for time to build a secure solution. The EU said no. So Apple walked — and 450 million European users are left with the old, dumb Siri. Both sides are pointing fingers. Apple calls it "deeply disappointing." The EU says it's entirely Apple's choice. This week's Hang Jury: is the DMA a rare example of a regulator standing up to the most powerful company in the world — or is it an unintended own goal that punishes European consumers in the name of protecting them? 👇 Tell us where you stand in the comments. #Apple #Siri #WWDC #DMA #DigitalMarketsAct #EU #EuropeanUnion #TechNews #HangJury #TechHangout #AppleIntelligence
