Ayodhya Saptapuri, Uttar Pradesh Ayodhya is the first of the seven cities. This holy city is situated on the right bank of the river Sarayu in Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya is also called Saket. In ancient times, this city was called Kaushal Desh. In the Vedas, Ayodhya is mentioned as a divine city. Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born in the holy land of Ayodhya. Ayodhya, which has made its mark from the Treta era to the Kal Yuga, is described as the city of God in the Atharva Veda. Where Sri Rama had left his human form and departed to Vaikuntha world. Ayodhya is basically a city of temples and ghats. Here as soon as you enter you see the temple itself some of the temples are very magnificent with amazing carvings to see. The main temples here are the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhavan, Ramkot Temple, Nageshwaram Temple, and Darshan Singh Temple. There are also some Jain temples and there are 14 major ghats along the river Sarayu, including Gupta Ghat, Kaikeyi Ghat, Kausalya Ghat, Papamochan Ghat and Laxman Ghat. Situated on the banks of Maa Ganga in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, this city is considered to be one of the most sacred cities in the world. It is also called ‘Mayapuri’ in mythological interpretation. For years, people have been visiting Haridwar for attaining salvation. Kumbh is held here every 12 years.
