“Scottish Week” Around The World / Barga, Italy
Peterhead may host the original “Scottish Week”, but there are many places across the world that host “Scottish Week” or a “Tartan Day”. Over the past decade the city of Barga (Italy) has held a “Scottish Weekend”. Almost 60% of the city’s 10,000 population can trace their roots to Scotland. It’s little wonder that Barga is referred to as the “most Scottish town in Italy”. Locals will dress in tartan, eat fish ‘n’ chips and bagpipes will be played. The ancestors of Scottish musicians Paolo Nutini and Nicola Benedetti hailed from Barga!
