Intervento di Roberto Calise al confronto “La Napoli del futuro nel tempo delle smart city”

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the debate "The Naples of the Future in the Age of Smart Cities" was held at the Democratic Party (PD) Chiaia club at Viale Gramsci 16 in Naples. The debate, moderated by Paola Maiurino, featured speakers Teresa Armato, Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities for the City of Naples; Valerio Di Pietro, Councilor for Digital Transition and Smart Cities for the City of Naples; and Roberto Calise, editorialist for Corriere del Mezzogiorno and author of the book "The European Metro" (Editoriale Scientifica). In his speech, Roberto Calise focused on the concept of the smart city, highlighting how technology is not neutral but depends on the policies implemented. This is particularly true in the field of transportation, which could greatly benefit from innovative approaches, both in terms of the perceived and actual quality of services. From this perspective, Naples is significantly behind schedule, despite having started well in the past. The challenge for the coming years will therefore be to bridge this gap, starting with the necessary institutional consensus and dialogue between the various entities involved.
