Ukraine drone strikes bring war to Moscow | Ukraine This Week

Ukraine’s recent large-scale drone strikes on Moscow and other targets deep inside Russia were the central focus of the past week as a significant demonstration of Kyiv’s growing military capabilities. While the full military and economic effects of attacks on refineries and fuel infrastructure may take time to materialize, sustained strikes could gradually weaken Russia’s logistics and energy sectors. Luke Coffey, Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, told TVP World that the attacks expose weaknesses in Russia’s air-defense network, which cannot effectively protect every target across such a large country. He also highlighted how continued pressure on Moscow could increase political challenges for Vladimir Putin and potentially influence Russia’s willingness to negotiate. Coffey also strongly supports the idea of giving Ukraine a license to domestically produce the much-needed Patriot interceptors, arguing that Ukraine has the industrial expertise and wartime motivation to rapidly expand production if granted the necessary permissions and support.
