Comparisons have always been made between teams and players in different generations, but recently, a lot of people have made the claim that footballers have got worse in recent years, and that the game has become less fun, entertaining, and enjoyable. And yet, the sport has never been more competitive, in terms of the pool of players aiming to become professional, more popular, or more lucrative.
