Varese - Nuova Macchi, da area dismessa a polo di rinascita
Paolo Orrigoni, known to everyone as Mr. Tigros, but in this case the economic and driving force behind the return of the former Aermacchi area to the city, is excited. In a packed Salone Estense, the redevelopment project was presented, scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. After that, the capital will find, just outside Masnago, in the shadow of Colle Campigli, nestled between Via Sanvito and Via Crispi, an urban center with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 500 parking spaces, a green space, a supermarket, and a great ambition: to reunite different parts of the city by enhancing its cultural and industrial history. And it all happens right there: the temple of technical creativity, the desire to fly, but also the site of the bombings, the toil of life, and that long walk in the desert that is finally leading to the oasis of rebirth, giving Varese a new hub for sports, for meeting people, and, hopefully, for a new beginning. The article features interviews and images from the project.
