Today, thousands of Southern Baptists in attendance at the annual convention debated and voted to advance a formal ban on women pastoring and preaching in their respective congregations. This amendment, known as the Truth & Unity Amendment, will tighten already rigid restrictions in the convention opposing women pastors. They will vote again next year and if a similar two-thirds majority vote is received, like this year (6,028 to 2,026) then this amendment will officially become apart of their constitution. What does it mean for faith and theology in 2026, under a heightened political administration, that some denominations are still arguing and fighting to keep women out of the pulpit?
