Cedar Forests, Lebanon

Footage from 2021 of Cedar of Gods and Tannourine Cedar Forest. Extensive forests of the Lebanon cedar thrived across Mount Lebanon in antiquity. However, cedars are under threat due to centuries of widespread deforestation. The immense forests have been reduced to just a couple of hundred specimens growing in a handful of isolated patches. It wasn’t until the late 20th century that the cedars were declared a protected natural resource.
