'As many as 100,000' tradies set to receive silicosis diagnosis
Reports indicate up to 100,000 workers across all trade sectors will be diagnosed with silicosis as the federal government is set to canvas restrictions on importing building materials containing silica, says ACTU Assistant Secretary Liam O’Brien. “This is urgent and we need to act – we know there are safe alternatives,” Mr O’Brien told Sky News Australia. “There are plenty of other countries that don’t seem to be as addicted to this very deadly stone.”
