Can I Make a Better McDonald’s Breakfast at Home?

Can I make a McDonald’s-style Double Sausage & Egg McMuffin at home for less? In this Curiosity Cache test, I make my own homemade version using Aldi muffins, Tesco sausage patties, a free range egg and a cheese slice — then work out the real cost per muffin. The final homemade cost came to £1.52, compared with £4.99 for the McDonald’s version at the time of filming. But is it actually close? And is it worth the faff? Ingredients used: Aldi Village Bakery Toasting Muffins — 65p for 4 Tesco Pork & Herb Sausage Patties — £3 for 6 Tesco Medium Free Range Eggs — £1.80 for 6 Creamfields Cheese Slices — 83p for 15 Homemade cost breakdown: Muffin — 16p Two sausage patties — £1.00 Egg — 30p Cheese slice — 6p Total: £1.52 This is not an official McDonald’s recipe — just my homemade attempt to see how close I could get and whether it saves money.
