Taking Autumn Dahlia cuttings

As an experiment this year I have taken some cuttings from dahlias in the autumn. Normally dahlia cuttings are taken in the spring to flower in the summer, but cuttings may be taken in the autumn in order to preserve a 'sport' from an existing variety, or to 'grab' a variety that you particularly want to grow. The cuttings taken in the autumn will be kept growing over the winter, so light and heat must be provided, to enable them to grow on over the next year to produce flowers and tubers.
