Seattle 4x4 Trail - Camping at Gecko Rock Echo Valley Campsite

We camped at Gecko Rock Private Nature Reserve, about 200km from Cape Town in Nougaspoort and falls under the Touwsriver area. Echo Valley Campsite is the more secluded campsite we stayed at. Situated in a small valley, surrounded by beautiful hills and Karoo landscape, this campsite gets you pretty close to the wild camping feeling. The campsite has the basic luxuries of a braai area, a little kitchenette and ablutions with a warm shower. At Gecko Rock there are many activities to do including a 4x4 route, rock climbing, shooting range, hiking, MTB routes, Star gazing, flower tours and Veld Schools. There are also other accommodation types to choose from: The main campsite, Echo Valley Campsite, Chalets and Cabins. There are a few animals on the farm, but they are rare to see. The nights were very dark which made the night sky amazing to look at. We also had the best weather we can ask for, so it was a nice relaxing weekend with the Iconic Team! Seattle 4x4 Route: At Gecko Rock there is a 4x4 route called The Seattle Trail. It is said to be a level 4 route with a length of 7.1 km. The route meanders through the Karoo landscape on the Gecko Rock Farm. It presents a few challenges such as rock steps, rocky ascends and descends and some sharp rocky corners. The route is fairly straightforward, but I would recommend using a vehicle with good ground clearance, the right tires and tire pressures, diff lock would make life easier and a spotter is needed to make sure tire placement is right. The rocky terrain can be tire killer, so be careful of that.
