We wrap up our time in Georgia with one last stop before continuing north to explore unique regions of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia! VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: • BRASSTOWN BALD (Hiawassee, GA): Perched at 4,784 feet above sea level, Brasstown Bald is the highest point in the state of Georgia offering sweeping 360-degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the surrounding valleys. On a clear day, it's possible to see into four states—Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee—and visibility can stretch for dozens of miles across the Appalachian landscape. • BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY (Asheville, NC): Stretching 469 miles through the Appalachian Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway is often called "America's Favorite Drive." The scenic roadway connects Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Shenandoah National Park, offering breathtaking mountain vistas, overlooks, hiking trails, and opportunities to experience the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains. • JOHNSON CITY, TN: Part of the northeastern Tennessee region known as the Tri-Cities. Together, these cities form the economic and cultural center of northeast Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. Johnson City is a vibrant community known for its rich railroad history, outdoor recreation, and welcoming small-city atmosphere. Its location makes it a convenient gateway to the Appalachian Mountains, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Great Smoky Mountains. • JONESBOROUGH, TN: Tennessee's oldest town, founded in 1779—years before Tennessee became a state. The town served as the first capital of the autonomous state of Franklin from 1784-1788. Jonesborough was a center for the abolitionist movement and today is known for its beautifully preserved historic district, where brick sidewalks, historic buildings, and charming storefronts create a glimpse into the region's past. • BRISTOL, TN & BRISTOL, VA: Located directly on the Tennessee–Virginia state line, Bristol, Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee are often referred to as "A Good Place to Live" and famously function as one community in two states. The twin cities are best known for their deep roots in American music history, vibrant downtown district, and scenic location in the Appalachian Highlands. Bristol is widely recognized as the "Birthplace of Country Music" because of the historic 1927 Bristol Sessions, which introduced artists such as Jimmie Rodgers and The Carter Family to a national audience.
