There seem to be many complaints about the rear suspension of the Gixxer SF250 being too stiff. Apparently, in India, where the Gixxer is primarily sold, it's common to see two or more riders, so the initial setting is made stiff. The rear suspension has preload adjustment, so if you readjust it to a softer setting, both foot placement and ride comfort will improve!
