Should You Travel to Sokcho in 2025? 🇰🇷 The Effects of Sokcho's Drastic Tourist Development!

We got our heater fixed in our van (hopefully for good this time), and we decided to make one more final trip for the winter to the province of Gangwon-do (강원도), the mountainous region of Korea. We started out in the city of Wonju (원주), but when we got there the air quality was pretty bad, so we decided to continue up ahead to the city of Sokcho (속초). Sokcho used to be one of our favourite cities to travel to because it was pretty quiet and a great blend of the ocean and the mountains. In 2025, it seems like they have developed it a lot, so our favourite Sokcho Beach (속초해수욕장) has become a tourist spot almost like Haeundae (해운대) in Busan. After that, we travel south to Gangneung (강릉) to find some quieter spots to compare it to, and then we end the video by showing some of Sokcho’s older neighbourhoods to show it’s still got a lot of charm left.
