Montpellier : Tout ce qu'il faut savoir sur la gratuité totale des transports en commun

Riding a bus in Montpellier will soon cost you €0. On December 21st at 7 p.m., all public transportation in the Montpellier metropolitan area will be free for residents. This measure will cost the metropolitan area €30 million. It will be partially funded by a tax paid by local businesses and an increase in ticket prices for users residing outside the metropolitan area. With this measure, the city intends to reduce its carbon footprint but also restore purchasing power to its users. However, the metropolitan area does not intend to reduce its investment in transportation. On the contrary, it plans to create a new tram line, purchase 77 trams, and establish a transport police force to secure the network.
