Crayfishing: What you need to know... How to catch crayfish successfully. Please read the description, as these two species live in different areas, and this will help you know how and where to find them. đŠ LOUISIAN CRAYFISH: (Procambarus clarkii)đŠ This omnivorous crayfish prefers aquatic plants. It also consumes insects, mollusks, eggs, larvae, and adults of amphibians and fish. It is territorial and can be aggressive, even with its own kind. It burrows into deep burrows when it is cold or dry. The species has a relatively short life cycle. Fecundity is high for a crayfish, with 200 to 500 eggs per clutch; it is prolific because it can reproduce twice a year. Incubation lasts approximately 21 days. Growth is rapid; Individuals reach sexual maturity at 8 cm in 3 months. This crayfish is a healthy carrier of crayfish plague. Other diseases are observed in farmed populations. Predators include carnivorous fish, birds, mammals, and other crustaceans. It lives in shallow, still water in marshes, ditches, ponds, and rice paddies. It tolerates high temperatures (up to 30°C), low oxygen levels, and seasonal droughts. It is native to an area of ââthe USA between Florida and northern Mexico. It has been introduced to other parts of the Americas, Europe, and other countries. It was first reported in France in 1976 and can now potentially be found almost everywhere there. đŠ California Crayfish: (Pacifastacus leniusculus) đŠ Identifying this species is relatively straightforward; however, it can be confused with the red-clawed crayfish, which lacks the white spot on the top of its claws. Adults feed primarily on plants; juveniles prefer animal matter such as small crustaceans, insect larvae, worms, mollusks (zebra mussels), and other macroinvertebrates. Spawning (100 to 500 eggs) occurs once a year in October or November, and hatching takes place in April or May. The young reach a size of 4 cm in 3 months; they molt eleven times during their first year. Males reach adulthood at 2 years old, and females slightly later. Lifespan is 10 to 20 years. This species is fairly resistant to crayfish plague (aphanomycosis), but it is a healthy carrier and therefore a vector of the disease. The species lives at depths of up to 20 meters in good quality waters of lakes and streams. Native to the west coast of North America (Canada and the United States), it was intentionally introduced throughout much of Europe starting in 1959. It has also been introduced to Japan. **************************************************************** Video about cycling:    âąÂ VĂ©lo Electrique DYU A-5 (N°346)  Link: https://goaff.pro/2449A5 Discount code: DYU-P **************************************************************** Friends, if you enjoyed the video, you can support the channel: Share this video with your friends on social media.
