As the very end of Kyushu, you may have the impression that it takes a long time to access even from Kyushu's capital, Fukuoka City. However, if you use the "Super Express" introduced here, you can access it from Hakata Station in just 3 hours and 10 minutes. The "Super Express" "Kagoshima-Kaseda/Makurazaki Direct Bus", also known as the Super Express, is a bus that connects Makurazaki Station in Makurazaki City and Kaseda Bus Terminal in Minamisatsuma City with Kagoshima City (Kagoshima Chuo Station, Tenmonkan, Kanebu-cho). By taking the shortest route, including using the expressway on the way, the trip from Kagoshima-Chuo to Kaseda takes just 50 minutes, and from Kagoshima-Chuo to Makurazaki takes just 1 hour and 20 minutes. To Makurazaki, the trip is about 15 minutes faster than the express bus on the local roads, and about 30 minutes faster than the local bus. The bus uses the same body as the express bus, so you can travel in a comfortable seat. This direct bus runs three round trips a day, and many of them connect with the Shinkansen at Kagoshima-Chuo Station. It takes about 3 hours 10 to 20 minutes from Makurazaki to Hakata in Fukuoka City, and about 2 hours 50 to 3 hours from Kaseda. You can arrive in Fukuoka from 9am and leave Fukuoka at 5pm, so you can stay in Fukuoka for more than 7 hours even on a day trip.
