Scoping Things Out - Howa 1500 Hogue Varminter in .223 Remington
Evaluating Leupold STD dovetail scope ring height on a recently purchased Howa 1500 Hogue Varminter. The rifle is a 1:12 twist .223 Remington 24" Heavy Barrel Howa 1500 "Legacy" in a Hogue stock. It is a Legacy Sports International import that I believe is referred to as the HGR90202 Varminter. This is not a Micro Action .223 - it is built on the "standard" Short Action with a magazine block. It has a non-locking two-position safety.
