The Quandary Phase | Douglas Adams - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy | BBC Radio
Arthur Dent has spent years hitchhiking across the galaxy in his dressing gown. Now, he finally finds himself back on his home planet. But wait... didn't the Vogons destroy Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass? The Mystery of the Dolphins: Earth is back, but the dolphins are gone. In their place are mysterious glass bowls with a cryptic farewell message. Arthur sets out to find out who replaced the planet and where the dolphins went. Fenchurch: Arthur meets a girl who "realized how the world could be made good and happy" just seconds before the Vogons (supposedly) struck. She is the girl of his dreams, but she has a strange "link" to the planet's disappearance that they must solve together. Wonko the Sane: The search for the truth leads Arthur and Fenchurch to California, where they meet a man who lives in an "inside-out" house and claims to have the final proof of the dolphins' departure. God’s Final Message: The series culminates in a journey to the desert of the planet Preleumarn to see God's Final Message to His Creation—and to discover if it's as profound as everyone hopes. 🎧 Why This Phase is Unique: The Return of Arthur Dent: Simon Jones returns to play Arthur, bringing a wonderful sense of weary romanticism to the character as he finally finds something worth staying on a planet for. A Change of Pace: Unlike the action-heavy Tertiary Phase, the Quandary Phase is a surreal romantic comedy. It explores the themes of love, loss, and the sheer absurdity of finding happiness in an indifferent universe. Stellar Guest Stars: Featuring the iconic Bill Paterson as Rob McKenna (the Rain God) and David Dixon (Ford Prefect from the TV series) in a special guest role. 🎭 Cast & Characters: Arthur Dent: Simon Jones Fenchurch: Jane Horrocks Ford Prefect: Geoffrey McGivern Wonko the Sane: Christian Burgess The Guide: William Franklyn Rob McKenna: Bill Paterson 👍 Join the Discussion: 💖 LIKE – If you’ve ever felt like a Rain God on your summer holiday! 💬 COMMENT: What is your favorite "unbelievable" moment from this series?
