Spotlight on Constitutional reforms in Zimbabwe: Dr David Matsanga weighs in
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has signed the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill into law, ushering in changes to the country's governance framework. The legislation, now published as Act number 6 of 2026, extends the constitutional term of office for the President and Parliament from five years to seven years, replacing the electoral cycle that has been in place since the adoption of the 2013 Constitution. The President of Zimababwe will now be elected by Parliament not by direct public vote as it was previously the case. The terms of the President and the Members of Parliament will now increase from five to seven years. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
