Traumatic Loss: An Interview with Widow Kaydee Castricone

Traumatic loss in 2.3 seconds. Kaydee Castricone lost her husband Andy and daughter Nicole on an ordinary drive home. In July 2022, Kaydee was driving with her family of six when a stranger stopped on the freeway for no reason. The crash that followed killed her husband and oldest daughter, critically injured her 13-year-old son Luke, and left the rest of the family with PTSD that still shapes their daily lives. In this interview, Kaydee shares what traumatic loss has actually looked like in her body, her parenting, and her relationships. She talks about why the word "and" became her compass, how she's learned to hold devastating pain alongside genuine joy, the somatic tools and tapping that got her through the early days, and why she now calls herself a "Mom Goes On lifer." If you've ever wondered whether you can carry traumatic loss this big and still build a meaningful life, Kaydee's story is the answer.
