Last time I tried to play in a more fundamental or simple way at this rank the games didn't feel great so I guess I figured something out that is helping make the games work. Generally playing a slow and solid opening (even if it gets you behind) still gives you the best chance to win a game at a higher level like this. I just had to wait until I spotted a chance or a mistake and try my best to take advantage of it. This opponent was better than I was expecting as well and when I checked their account they were almost undefeated at 4d and usually played pretty even at 5d. Not bad.
