It's a little easier with a plow, perhaps because the moldboard throws the soil and potatoes to the right. Overall, you can dig with a fan-type digger, a regular hiller, and a plow, but to get the tiller to pull you, you need to add more weight. In my case, I had to push the tiller a little.
