The first round of municipal elections is approaching, as is the presidential election scheduled for 2027. Will this unprecedented proximity between these two elections have an impact on the municipal elections? Will voters choose to vote based on strictly local issues? Furthermore, to what extent will the international context influence Sunday's vote? Indeed, national media have been focused on the municipal elections for the past twelve days due to the war in the Middle East. The main issue, therefore, is voter turnout. 2020, the year of COVID-19, was marked by a high rate of abstention. The large number of single-candidate lists in 2026 could worsen the situation, in addition to weakening local political pluralism. Will voter turnout return to the levels of 2014?
