Snare Spotlight: Ludwig Black Beauty

We're kicking off a new collection of videos called "Snare Spotlight" where we provide an overview and demo of different drums, starting with some of the staples. We couldn't think of a more fitting drum to kick things off with than the legendary Ludwig Black Beauty. With it's distinctly recognizable black nickel finish, the Black Beauty is a well known drum, though many drummers aren't actually familiar with what's so special about this snare in particular. When were they first made? What made the second run different?
