FESTA DI S.TEODORO A SORRENTINI (Il ballo in Chiesa)

La festa di S.Teodoro si celebra a Sorrentini, piccola frazione del comune di Patti, la seconda domenica di agosto. Non ci sono notizie certe sulla datazione delle prime manifestazioni religiose dedicate al Santo ma ci sembra indubbia l'antichità di alcuni riti che fanno da cornice alla festa del patrono e sembrano ricordare manifestazioni pagane assimilate ed inglobate, poi, nel rituale cattolico. Sono proprio questi aspetti ad avere creato alcune difficoltà alla festa, soprattutto in passato, da parte delle gerarchie ecclesiastiche che hanno cercato di impedire lo svolgimento di alcuni tratti caratteristici giudicati paganeggianti quali,in particolare, il tipico "ballo del Santo". Solo da un decennio circa, per via di una crescente perdita di identità nei confronti della festa, lentamente ed in modo indolore, alcuni elementi sono stati modificati per renderli più coerenti con la cerimonia cristiana. I am really these aspects to have created some difficulties to the party, especially in past, from the ecclesiastical hierarchies that have tried to prevent the carrying out of some characteristic lines judged heathenish what, particularly, the typical one "dance of the Saint." Only from one decade around, because of an increasing loss of identity towards the party, slowly and in painless way, some elements have been modified for making them more coherent with the Christian ceremony.
