Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, on the other hand, was developed specifically for the Nintendo Switch and, after several delays, will be released exclusively for this console on May 12, 2023. Like its predecessor, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will feature an open world and take place in the same Hyrule that Breath of the Wild players already know. New additions include wells, caves, and the "Cloud Islands." Similar to "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword," small islands can be found in the skies above Hyrule, which Link can explore on his new adventure. During the course of the adventure, players can also explore the underground of the Kingdom of Hyrule. There, it is pitch black, and players have limited options for orientation. Additionally, miasma is present everywhere. As in its predecessor, there are plenty of shrines to test your knowledge, Korok seeds to collect, and the returning dungeons. Tears of the Kingdom takes place shortly after Breath of the Wild and begins with an exploration of the underground of Hyrule Castle, where the inquisitive Princess Zelda and the heroic Link are trying to track down the mysterious miasma emanating from the depths. Along the way, they stumble upon relics from a bygone era. These relics belong to the Zonai, an ancient race with powerful technology. Murals depict the first legendary war against Ganon and the unification of the Zonai with the Hylians—the original form of the legend! Further down, the two encounter a mummy held captive by a hand, but for unknown reasons, the mummy manages to reawaken. It is Ganondorf! He corrodes Link's right arm and sends Zelda, who had previously grabbed a mysterious tear, plummeting into the abyss. The magical hand saves Link, who suddenly awakens some time later on a cloud island with a new, mystical arm. This arm possesses several abilities. With "Ultra Hand," objects can be moved, rotated, and glued together. This allows him to solve many puzzles and craft some amazing structures and vehicles using Zonai technology. "Synthesis" allows him to upgrade a weapon with certain materials. How about a spiked shield or a rock hammer, for example? "Ceiling Jump," as the name suggests, allows him to jump from the floor to the ceiling and emerge from the floor at the same spot. This makes exploration and climbing in many places much easier. Finally, there's "Time Reversal," which allows him to "rewind" a movable object back to its original position.
