Brownfields 101: From Process to Sites The talk focused on the plans for developing a brownfield site inventory for Dillingham and Aleknagik. Josh Solomon and Melissa Becker from ChemTrack Alaska presented the brownfield program process and definition, explaining that these sites are properties underutilized or abandoned due to potential contamination. There was discussion of existing contaminated sites in the area using DEC's database and specific potential brownfield sites, including the Bingman property, an abandoned fire station, and areas with abandoned vehicles used for erosion control. Participants shared local knowledge about historical dumping practices and industrial sites.
