Brother Mārtįńs Burrekoven-Kalve OSFC gives his homily for the Twelfth Sunday of Ordinary Time (Year II). “Notice how Jesus himself engaged with those whom his own tradition considered outsiders. He did not pursue arguments. He pursued people. The woman at the well. The tax collector in the tree. The leper no one would touch. In each encounter, he did not lead with judgment but with presence — and it was that presence which opened the door to truth. This too is our model. We do not need to search for confrontations. But when we encounter those who have been wounded by religion, who carry hurt from an encounter with the Church, or who have simply never been shown that the Gospel is good news for them — in those moments we are being called to speak.
