1977 Chrysler Cordoba Commercial vs Ford T-Bird & Pontiac Grand Prix
Before folks start harping on Lean Burn. They sold 183 thousand Cordoba cars in 1977. When launched in 1975, it was the best new launch in terms of numbers for any Chrysler Model in the companies History. 75 didn't have Lean Burn. 76 Had Lean Burn as an "option" on the 400 ci engine, that's it. Series II Lean Burn in 1977 was only on the 400 and 360 and it wasn't available as previously in California or High Altitude areas because it couldn't meet those stricter Emission Requirements. YOu could order a California Emission Cordoba anywhere in the USA and not get Lean Burn at all. Finally, Lean Burn didn't reduce emissions, that's why you couldn't get it in CA. It only improved Gas Mileage and made the engine run smoother and improved horsepower too theoretically. That's if it was maintained properly.
