We went after flounder at Awazu offshore breakwater in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. Our fishing advisor was Tsugumichi Nakamoto, a professional staff member at Sasamehari. At an offshore breakwater with good footing that is perfect for casting, Nakamoto, a legend in the world of casting fishing, went after good-sized flounder at the end of the season. To increase the hit rate, five rods were set out. There were also three fellow supporters who were fishing buddies. The main target was flounder, but whatever we caught, such as flathead, sillago, and yellowfin porgy, they were all our main target. Using Nakamoto's casting tackle, we first caught a wrasse and enjoyed the pull of the fish. An angler on the opposite bank caught a Japanese white-eye and a flounder, both of which were in the 80cm class. Meanwhile, Nakamoto's rod got the long-awaited bite. He waited for the bait to bite for a long time, then gave it a big, fierce hook. The rod bent with a strong enough bite. Was it a flounder?
