On this month’s Eye on the Anthracite Region, we step back in time at the Orwigsburg Historical Society & Museum, where the rich history of southern Schuylkill County is carefully preserved and shared. More than 30 years ago, a dedicated group of volunteers came together with a mission to save the deteriorating Friendship Hose Number One firehouse. Once restored, the historic building became the perfect home for countless artifacts and exhibits that tell the story of the area and the people who shaped it.
