Vecinos piden demoler santuario de la Santa Muerte en Cantel, Quetzaltenango

The installation of an image of Santa Muerte at the Centro Encanto del Keme, located in Llanos de Urbina, Quetzaltenango, has once again sparked opposition among residents, who have opposed the opening of this sanctuary since last year. Residents complain that the owners do not have a construction permit and have ignored sanctions from the Cantel Municipal Council, including a fine of Q500,000. Despite a court ruling in favor of the owners, ordering respect for the right to free worship, residents have requested the demolition of the site and were recently denied drinking water.
