Mosedale Horseshoe makes Wainwright's list of top 11 ridge walks. Claiming 5 Wainwrights enroute this is a great route for Wainwright baggers. Starting at the Wasdale Head car park we head past the Inn and quickly find ourselves on the valley floor. With Kirk Fell on our right and Mosedale Beck on our left we make our way across the valley floor to find the Black Sail Pass. Once there, we climb up to the plateau where we can regain out breath. Heading up to Pillar we are afforded great views until we reach the walks highest summit of the day. to the side, we can see Pillar Rock which Wainwright calls "the most handsome crag in all lakeland" From here we head down to Wind Gap and back up to our next 2 wainwrights, Scoat Fell and Steeple which afford great views down to Ennerdale Water. From here we turn back and pick up Red Pike which is another Wainwright, before heading down to reach our final Wainwright of the day, Yewbarrow. This fell can be summited by a climb as I do it or by a gradual path on the side seen in the fly through map. The top affords amazing views over Wast Water as we descent to the road. Once down, it is an easy walk down the road along the banks of Wast Water passing the camping grounds before returning again to the car park and pub. I hope you enjoy it!
