Things Which Helped To Win The Davis Cup. Australian Diary 43.
The 2013 Australian Tennis Open is underway in Melbourne. Australia has a proud tennis history but no Australian has won the singles title since Chris O'Neil in 1978. Here we look back to happier times when Australia regained the Davis Cup in 1950, a title Australia has won 29 times. Back then the team played with Australian-made tennis racquets. These racquets were also exported around the world and were identifiable by unique markings and details. This program shows how they were made and tested. Produced by The National Film Board 1950. Directed by Jack S Allan.
