Island Foods - Quality, Service, and Value in Island Lake Since 1972

Island Foods, proudly serving the Island Lake, Illinois community since 1972, is a hometown grocery store that is hard to find anymore. With the future of this building and property in question, it was time to officially document this historic gem! Update: Island Foods remains open in 2023! Latest I found from an August 2022 Daily Herald article (behind a paywall) is that "very promising negotiations" are underway for a potential ownership change. Lots of rumors (or maybe just hopeful wishing) from locals is that it will be taken over by Angelo's Fresh Market, another semi-local chain in McHenry County. That would make the most sense. But even if that was that case, whether it was Angelo's or another big chain, it will never have the same historic charm that it does today. This place can be described as nothing other than a time capsule. Worth the drive out here while you can experience a piece of the past, at least for now, being preserved in 2023.
