Unique Properties of Water: Biological Molecules

Welcome to my channel, In this video you will learn biological properties of water. What is water? Or Introduction to water: Water is the chemical substance with chemical formula H2O, one molecule of water has two hydrogen atoms covalently bonded to a single oxygen atom. Different Properties of water whichh you will learn in this video: 1) Water is Polar in nature: Due to Electronegativity of Oxygen element, water is slightly polar molecule in nature. 2) Hydrogen Bonding: Water molecules posses hydrogen bonding, which makes water a very unique molecule. 3) Excellent Solvent: Water is a very good solvent for polar molecules, and this property is very essential for metabolic processes in the body. Water soluble molecules are called hydrophilic and water repellent molecules are called Hydrophobic. 4) Specific Heat Capacity: Water has a very high heat capacity which makes water very special for life. 5) Specific heat of Vaporization: Water has a very high heat of vaporization, This property of water is essential for homeostasis of temperature in our body. 6) Density: Water behave differently than other liquids, It has high density at 4 degree Celsius, And its density decreases when water freezes. This property is very good for aquatic life. 7) Cohesive and Adhesive Property of Water: These two properties of water make it possible for the movement of water in xylem.
